End of Lyon Journey – 15. Manager Statement

To all the club players, staff, and supporters,

First of all, I would like to thank Jean-Michel Aulas for giving me the opportunity to be a part of Olympique Lyonnais’ history. After two years at Lyon, the time has come to say goodbye. It’s been an incredible honour to work with one of the biggest clubs in the world and achieve the Ligue 1 title and French Cup together.

I would like to take the chance to thank the fans for their support during the good times and the bad times. Groupama Stadium would never be the same without all of them. The club gets better and better every single day with their fantastic support.

I also want to thank all the coaching staff, scouting staff, and medical staff. Their knowledge and expertise have been invaluable. They have been giving me useful suggestions which make me a better manager since the first day I join Lyon.

I met a lot of fantastic players here and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them. They have given me their 120% on the pitch, on the training ground, and I would never forget that night in Saint-Denis where we lifted the French Cup together.

It’s been a great ride. There have been ups and downs, but I have no regrets joining Lyon. I’ve given my all to the Les Gones and I am sure we will cross paths again.

Nous sommes Olympique Lyonnais!

Sincerely,
Matthew Hennequin
